Happiness By The Acre Apprenticeship Program

Learn to farm with a community of farmers supporting you

Are you looking to enter the rewarding world of farming? Not quite sure if you want to take on the challenge of running an agriculture based business? Trying to decide between homesteading, hobby farming, and farming for a vocation? Then Happiness By The Acre's Apprenticeship and Intern program is for you.

We love working with others, and provide a space for people who are wanting to get into farming and learn the various skills of the trade. Our farm is located in Alberta, and we are fairly small. We work primarily with livestock, in particular cattle in an AMP/HM Grazing system. We also have small flock egg laying chickens and ducks, and seasonal pastured pigs. We are a direct to customer farm that uses online sales, pickup locations, and farmers markets as our sales channels.

The farm property is also host to a market garden, passive solar greenhouse, perennial gardens, and our much loved "fail orchard." These are all managed by independent farmers and businesses operating off of the same property, and are available resources for you to learn from. Our internship and apprenticeship programs run year round, last for 6 to 12 months depending on the person and goals, and come with access to living space in a 3 season trailer or a location to put your trailer based living situation. There is indoor plumbing and on site showers as well.
